Wolfgang Güllich 15 year anniversary

It was at Weissenstein in Frankenjura when I met him for the first time.

When they came (Wolfgang and Kurt Albert) I was about to pull with help of one quickdraw to reach another one on Strohdach route (9-). Wolfgang was mildly smiling and said to Kurt. Aha neue still?

We have recently visited the grave of the biggest sport climber in the world to remember the 15th anniversary of his death.

This anniversary, which falls on the month and day of 31st of August is very important for the sport climbing world.

Despite that for most climbers life has moved on and it seems memories of the iconic climber are beginning to fade, we would like to pay homage to Wogü on this day.  

Wolfgang was on the forefront of climbing difficulty, estabishing the hardest route in the world at four different times.
Climbing milestones:
1984 Kanal im Rücken (10 UIAA),
1985 Punks in the Gym (10+ UIAA)
1987 Wallstreet (11- UIAA).
Action Direct 11 (fr. 9a),
which has become the benchmark for the grade, despite very few repeats.
